How I got into Dehydrating

Welcome to my world of dehydrating on the Internet. This is where I have collected many years of experimenting with food dehydration.

I studied a year on an outdoor school in Sweden in my early twenties (now 40). I got frustrated over the poor supply of outdoor food you could find, freeze-dried was then tasteless and expensive.

On the shool during a lecture one of my teachers held up a small plastic bag of something pale and crumbled – it was one kilo of potatoes - my first contact with home-dried food!

I got hooked – not yo say obsessed - and did build my own dehydrator out of plywood and a car heater. I realized I could dehydrate almost anything and my outdoor world got culinary again.

I wrote a book in Swedish about the topic and simply called it “Dehydrate food”. It became a bestseller and is still selling well after ten years. Who would have guessed that I would become thee expert in dehydrating?

Today, with eight books (in Swedish and Finnish) in the field of dehydrating and outdoor food I’ve tested to dehydrate everything you can imagine – like espresso, yogurt, and sour cabbage.

I want to invite you and everyone else to my world of dehydrated food!
